FAQ

Why am I getting the “Additional Memory Needed” message?

The ACI Cockpit360° utilizes high resolution panoramas that, when viewed on
mobile
devices, require a fair amount of system memory to be viewed properly.

We have chosen to present our panoramas at a higher resolution to maximize
the viewers experience but, this does have it’s limitations as well.

When the Additional Memory Needed message appears, the app is not “crashing”
per se. What is happening is that iOS 7 is not allowing the app to open it’s high
resolution panoramas due to the lack of memory that it is allocating to the app.

The most common cause for this issue is having too many other apps open and
running in the background. The quickest solution to remedy this issue is to force
close all open apps thus, freeing up the needed iOS 7 memory to view the 360’s.

iOS 7’s method of completely exiting your running apps (and prevent them from
running in the background) is easy and can be done with two simple steps.

1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view.

2. Swipe-up the screenshot of the app you want to exit.

The app will fly off the screen, and release its resources to the ACI Cockpit360° App.

We realize that this can be an inconvenience and we hope that future versions of
iOS will address how memory is allocated to apps on the iPhone and iPad.

That said, the ACI Cockpit360° App is still the quickest way to “virtually” climb into
some of the world’s most famous aircraft.

We’ve missed this app since moving to Android. It is one of the best museum companion apps out there. It let’s you all but smell the insides of exhibits that 99% of us never get to see. The historical significance of these aircraft is enhanced by being able to see where the hero’s actually worked. Amazing photography. The ease of use and functionality of the app is amazing. Thanks!

Awesome App from a great Photographer! ★★★★★

Glad to see this app migrate from iOS over to Android. Works awesome on Galaxy S5, and pretty well on 1st gen Galaxy Note 10.1 . Gyroscopic panning is great to see as well, even if it is a little rough on the Note. (Not the best sensors in that tablet!) Definitely a MUST-download for aviation fans! (Looking forward to the rest of the 360 content migrating over soon)

As a pilot, I love being able to look at some of these vintage planes that I might never be able to visit in person. Awesome that you can see 360 degrees, and look at all of the details. Plenty of aircraft to check out, but can’t wait for the many “coming soon” place holders to be available.

I had the chance to ride in the Liberty Foundation’s Liberty Belle a year or so before the unfortunate fire that consumed her and seeing her listed here brings all kinds of emotion and memories flooding back. That short 30 minute flight still means so much to me as it would be a once in a lifetime experience. It made my day to just be able to look back, in great detail, and see once again the result of thousands of hours of devoted restoration efforts. Keep up the great work and thank you again.
